Cebu City Gov’t Eyes To Build COVID-19 Facility In 10 Days
CEBU CITY – Mayor Edgardo Labella said Cebu City’s COVID-19 quarantine facility will rise in 10 days.
Millions of Filipinos were left quarantined out of fear of contracting the novel coronavirus. Health officials advised people to socially distance themselves to halt the spread of the deadly virus.
On Friday, the province of Palawan was placed under a state of calamity to tap more funds to contain the spread of the disease. As the COVID-19 threat rises every day, the province of Cebu has also taken a proactive approach to proposed its people and the island.
The Cebu City government is eyeing to build a quarantine center on Block 27 at the North Reclamation Area. The collapsible one-story building will be used as a treatment and quarantine facility. Cebu City Public Information Office several photos of the construction on its Facebook Page.
“As directed by Mayor Edgar Labella, our personnel are giving all their best efforts to prepare the Block 27 property at the North Reclamation Area as Cebu City’s quarantine area for COVID-19.”
The 5,000 square meters is prepared for the resident who will be diagnosed with coronavirus disease. The chairman of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District, Atty. Jose Daluz III said the quarantine center can be completed in 10 days.
Daluz said the collapsible center will be run by Cebu City Medical Center and treat patients who experience coronavirus symptoms. They hire health volunteers to help healthcare personnel in managing the patients and the facility.
“The structure can be removed. In the future, magamit nato. Kuhaon na nato. Ang permanent ra jud diha is the flooring (In the future, we can use the building. We can get it. The only permanent thing there is the flooring),” he said.
