Leni Robredo’s Office Collects P17.3M For Health Worker’s Protective Gear

LENI ROBREDO – The office of Vice President Leni Robredo said they have collected P17.3 million for coronavirus protective gear.

On Monday night, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has placed the entire Luzon including Metro Manila under “enhanced community quarantine” to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The new measures to fight the virus entails home quarantine, regulation of food and essential health services provision, suspension of transportation and heightened presence of uniformed personnel.

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the chief executive is worried over the rapid surge of the COVID-19 cases in the country. Government agencies have assured the public that Metro Manila has enough food supply.

On Tuesday, March 17, the office of Vice President Leni Robredo said that they have collected P17.3 million for equipment that would protect the doctors, nurses, and health workers in the country. The efforts will surely help them amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a Facebook post, Robredo said the funds are enough for 36,000 sets of personal protective equipment that will last for 15 days for the 2,400 workers.

The first batch of personal protective equipment will be delivered to eight (8) hospitals in Manila and Quezon City that had coronavirus cases.

In the caption, VP Leni Robredo said that her office will try to produce more personal protective equipment including masks, and surgical gowns in the next days. She thanked Ninjavan and Trasportify for helping them deliver the protective gear.
