Areas Covered by DOE Price Freeze Order

DOE – The Department of Energy (DOE) has implemented a price freeze on LPG and kerosene in these areas.

Following a previous article, the Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez implemented on March 12 a nationwide price freeze on basic necessities amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. He said the government agency is coordinating with other government agencies, retailers and manufacturers of basic supplies to ensure the continuous supply of goods in the market.

Most of the people in Metro Manila are panic buying fearing of the “community quarantine” due to the Wuhan virus. Among the basic goods that are covered by the price freeze are coffee, laundry soap, and bottled water.

Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture has issued a price freeze of rice, cooking oil, fresh eggs, fresh pork, poultry meat, and root crops among others. In a report, Agriculture secretary William Dar assured the resident in Metro Manila that they have enough food supply that could last a month.

“The Department of Agriculture assures all Filipinos families that there is enough food for everyone,” he said.

Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, the Department of Energy (DOE) ordered price freeze on kerosene products and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) up to 15 days in various cities and provinces that declared “state of emergency” amid the spread of the coronavirus.

“During the price freeze, roll back of prices will be implemented; while price increases are strictly prohibited within the 15-day period,” DOE said.

Areas covered by the price freeze order:

  • Quezon City
  • Las Pinas
  • Manila
  • San Juan Cavite in Luzon
  • Cebu City
  • Negros Oriental
  • Iligan City
