Some Production Staff Are More Scared Of This Than COVID-19

This is scarier than COVID-19 for some production staff

For some production staff, this is scarier than 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as shootings and tapings are temporarily restricted.

In production, whether for movies or TV, there are a lot of people working behind the camera. The production team is composed of individuals designated to various departments such as in audio, production design, costume, and makeup.

However, in line with the declaration of President Rodrigo Duterte stating that Metro Manila is now under community quarantine, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) also released a memorandum.

FDCP encouraged the entertainment industry to postpone movie shootings and TV tapings amid the threat that the coronavirus is imposing to the people, especially in the National Capital Region (NCR).

ABS-CBN already expressed “in compliance” to this. Roselle Monteverde of Regal Multimedia stated on her social media post that they will also postpone the shootings from March until the community quarantine will be restricted. Furthermore, an employee of Reality Entertainment shared that they were told to report at their office for now.

On the other hand, GMA, TV5 and other film outfits are yet to give their response to the memorandum from FDCP.

In line with this, based on the article form PEP, some production staff expressed fear not just because of the coronavirus but also because of the impending financial problem that they will encounter as their work stops.

“Hindi po ako gaanong takot sa virus, mas takot po ako na baka pag tumagal pa ito, wala na kaming makain ng pamilya ko,” an executive producer of a top-rated drama series said.

“Hindi nga po kami mamatay sa coronavirus, baka mamatay naman kami sa gutom,” the executive producer added, based on the article.
