Johns Hopkins University Reveals Worldwide COVID-19 Cases Tops 100,000
WORLDWIDE COVID-19 TOPS 100,000 – According to Johns Hopkins University’s data, the number of coronavirus cases worldwide had surpassed 100,000.
Additionally, the university, which has been tracking COVID-19 says the virus had caused over 3,400 deaths.
According to a report from NewSky, the number came following the drop in cases from China. However, countries such as Italy, Iran, and South Korea had become the lastest hotspots of the virus.
In Europe, Italy had become the hardest-hit country with over 4,636 cases. Along with this, 197 deaths have been recorded in the country.
Within a day, Italy had seen an increase of 778 cases. The number of deaths has also increased by 49.
Meanwhile, South Korea had become the second hardest-hit country of the coronavirus next to China. As per the report, over 6,600 people were positive for COVID-19 with 40 deaths recorded.
Likewise, Iran had experienced a massive spike in the number of confirmed cases as well. Over 4,747 people have tested positive for the virus with 124 deaths.
Three months following the discovery of the virus in Wuhan, China – every continent in the world has been hit with COVID0-19 except for Antarctica.
Due to the rapid global spread of the virus, governments have been racing to contain the spread. Countries have been closing their borders to heavily hit by COVID-19.
Almost all countries have closed their border to China except for South Korea, which only barred flights from Wuhan. Meanwhile, Kuwait had barred an additional seven countries including the Philippines.
The British government had also been considering isolations of whole households and encouraged people to work from home.
Large-scale gatherings such as concerts, marathons, and big celebrations have been suspended.
