DOH Suggests to Pres. Duterte the Declaration of Public Health Emergency
DOH – The Department of Health suggested to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to declare a state of public health emergency.
Currently, there are confirmed coronavirus cases in the Philippines again. Two (2) Filipinos aging 48 years old and 62 years old tested positive for the disease as confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH).
The 5th confirmed case of coronavirus in the country, the 62-year-old man, had no travel history. It sparked the possibility of local transmission in the country.
Recently, DOH confirmed local transmission in the country as another person tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus. The 6th coronavirus patient is the wife of the 62-year-old man.
The couple is now being treated at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the alert level is now Code Red.
The said level prompts all healthcare providers of both public and private institutions to report to duty. Also, according to the report, the DOH has already suggested to Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to declare a state of public health emergency.
According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, the declaration will “facilitate mobilization of resources, eased processes, including procurement of critical logistics and supplies, and intensifying reporting and quarantine measures”.
Previously, Malacañang has assured the Filipino people that the country is ready for coronavirus. The first three (3) cases of the said disease in PH were Chinese nationals.
One of them, a 44-year-old man, died during the treatment. The two (2) other patients recovered from the disease.
