Mon Tulfo Linking Aguire as the Protector of “Pastillas” Bribery Scheme
Veteran journalist Mon Tulfo links former Justice Secretary Vataliano Aguire as the protector of the “Pastillas” bribery schemed at the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
At a hearing held by Senator Risa Hontiveros in connection with Chinese POGO workers involved in illegal activities, Tulfo said Aguire was the protector of the “Pastillas” syndicate.
According to Sen. Hontiveros, Tulfo posted on social media a picture of father Maynardo and Red Mariñas. Tulfo allegedly called Maynardo “the syndicate godfather” and Red was “The syndicate heir.”
“Ano po ibig n’yong sabihin dito?” Senator Risa asked tulfo. “Mag-ama po sila, eh. Ewan ko kung bakit wala dito ‘yung protector nila, si former secretary Aguire,” tulfo’s answer.
According to the report of GMA News, immigration officer Allison Chiong, the whistleblower said that Aguire was the protector of Maynardo and Red Marias.
Red was the former chief of the Ports Operation Division while his father Maynardo chaired the Special Operations Communications Unit of the Bureau of Immigration. Aguire allegedly place them on their positions.
Meanwhile, the former Justice secretary said Monday that he will sue Mon Tulfo for linking him to the bribery scheme. He denied backing the syndicate that allegedly allowed Chinese nationals to skip the immigration process for a fee.
Aguire vehemently denies Tulfo’s allegation. He said he would write Senator Hontiveros to invite him to the next Senate hearings so he can tell Tulfo that this is a lie.
