3 More Pinoy Repatriates From Japan Cruise Ship Tested After Showing Signs of Coronavirus

JAPAN CRUISE SHIP – Three (3) more Filipinos from the vessel that docked in Japan showed signs of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

Amid the global fight against the 2019 novel coronavirus, a Diamond Princess vessel with more than three (3) thousand passengers and crew docked in Japan. It was put under quarantine for 14 days.

The quarantine verdict came after one of the passengers of the cruise ship, an 80-year-old passenger, tested positive for coronavirus. The said passenger has already disembarked the vessel before it was quarantined.

Unfortunately, the virus infected a lot of people in the vessel. More than six (6) hundred passengers and crew were admitted in local hospitals in Japan after they tested positive for the virus.

The 14-day quarantine period for the Japan cruise ship is now over. Those who tested positive are confined in hospitals in Japan while most of those who tested negative were repatriated to their home countries.

The Philippines has already repatriated the Filipinos on-board the cruise ship who tested negative for coronavirus. They are now under another quarantine period in New Clark City.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, some Pinoy repatriates from Japan cruise ship showed signs of coronavirus. Recently, three (3) more Filipinos showed symptoms which took the total number to 13.

Meanwhile, according to Department of Health (DOH) Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, ten (10) of the 13 persons showing signs already tested negative for coronavirus. The swab test of the three (3) other people were already sent for checking and the results are expected to arrive soon.

Based on the report, most of the Pinoy repatriates taken to a hospital for showing symptoms experience coughing and sore throat. These two (2) are among the coronavirus signs aside from fever, diarrhea, and breathing difficulties.

The Japanese health ministry previously confirmed that six (6) people who were brought to hospitals after obtaining coronavirus infection while on board the cruise ship died of the disease. One of them is a British male passenger.
