DPWH Engineer Survives Ambush In Davao Del Sur

DPWH ENGINEER – An engineer from the Department of Public Works and Highways survived an ambush in Davao Del Sur on 8 AM Monday (March 2).

According to Inquirer, the engineer, identified as Engineer Nicomedes Parilla, Jr., was on a Ford Wildtrak pickup truck.

Lieutenant Colonel Vici Anthony Tababa, officer-in-charge of the Digos City police said that Parilla was on his way to the engineering office of DPWH when two unidentified assailants overtake them through the road shoulder.

When the suspect’s vehicle overtook therm, they fired several shots on the passenger side of Parilla’s vehicle where Parilla was seated. Gerry Calisa, his driver, testified that he saw the gunmen trailing them.

Parilla, who was wounded from the ambush, told Calisa to head to the compound. He was eventually taken to the hospital via a DPWH-provided vehicle.

Calisa added that the assailants fled via an access road along Corregidor Street near the perimeter fence of the DPWH building.

Recovered from the incident were bullet slugs inside the engineer’s vehicle.

As per the report, as of the moment, Davao del Sur PNP crime laboratory’s scene-of-crime operatives (SOCO) are still gathering evidence.

Carisa was also wounded on the left shoulder but was eventually declared safe from harm.
