Medical Workers in China To Be Housed in Cruise Ships Amid Fight Against Coronavirus
CHINA – The Chinese government decided to bring in and use seven (7) cruise ships to house medical workers amid the fight against coronavirus.
The Chinese government and its people are still on a tough fight against the novel coronavirus. It was in 2019 when the said disease was first recorded in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province.
With flu-like symptoms like fever, cough, and breathing difficulties as the visible indicators, the coronavirus has rapidly spread in the country most especially in Wuhan. Sadly, a person may be a carrier even without symptoms.
More than 60,000 people were infected by the novel coronavirus in China. Even medical workers are contracting the disease as they treat the patients. The death toll in the country has surpassed 1,200.
Doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel are on the front line in the fight against the 2019 novel coronavirus. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, more than 1,700 health workers have been infected by the disease.
To provide a safe dining and living areas for the medical staff amid the fight against coronavirus, China has decided to bring in seven (7) cruise ships that will house the medical personnel. It will provide them a total of 1,469 beds based on the report.
One of the said cruise ships that will house the medical staff, the Blue Whale, has already arrived in Wuhan from Yichang. According to a Chinese health official, the ships that will be used are usually utilized for river cruises.
As of this writing, there are no further details yet regarding the move of the Chinese government. More updates may be posted soon.
