Around 220 Couples Wear Face Masks During Bacolod Mass Wedding

MASS WEDDING – Around 220 couples wear face masks during a mass wedding at the Bacolod Government Center in Bacolod City.

The mass wedding held at the lobby of the Bacolod Government Center is considered a unique ceremony in the city after 220 couples wear face masks during the ceremony. The couples came from different areas in Bacolod City.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia and Philippine Statistics Authority Negros Occidental head Luis Gonzales officiate the mass wedding. The event has been also attended by the city officials.

Leonardia said that this year’s mass wedding is unique and it is the first time that the couples wear face masks during their special day. He also considered it similar to MassKara festival.

The face masks have been given by the City Health Office for free to the couple as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Gonzales who attended the ‘Kasalan ng Bayan’ said that February is also considered as civil registration month, wherein most local government units are holding a mass wedding or free registration.

Jennifer, 62-year-old and Rolly Dela Cruz, 60-year-old were dubbed as the oldest couple in the event.
