Cops Arrested Six 4Ps Beneficiaries For Playing ‘Tong-its’

The Philippine government’s “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” also known as 4Ps is a conditional cash transfer program. The Department of Social Welfare and Development lead the government agency.
4Ps aims to end the extreme poverty in the country by investing in the education and health of the young Filipinos. Parents are given a dietary allowance for the food of their kids.
In a previous article, several netizens wanted 4Ps to be abolished because of certain reasons they observed. They claimed that the DSWD practice favoritism among the beneficiaries. While some say the money of the government is just wasted for vices and gambling.
One netizen said the Philippine government should stop the program and provide jobs for the poor people instead.
Based on a report from RMN, six (6) members of 4Ps were nabbed after they were caught in the act engaging in an illegal gambling activity at Barangay Annafunan, Tumauini, Isabela. PNP Chief PMaj Eugene Mallilli said a certain Helen Zipagan (36), Judith Rodriguez (26), Leticia Denguray (50) Mary Jane Caliguiran (27), Vicky Canceran (52), Elena Laman (57) are currently under their custody.
According to the report, DSWD provided a tip to the police about the 6 4Ps recipients. When they arrive at the location, they caught the 6 suspects playing ‘Tong-its’ and Pepito.
