Gary Valenciano Voices Support For ABS-CBN Amid Franchise Revocation Issue

ABS-CBN – Veteran performer Gary Valenciano aired his support for ABS-CBN amid franchise revocation issue.

On Monday, February 10, Solicitor General Jose Calida asked the Supreme Court to cancel ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal. The tv network’s franchise expires on March 30, 2020.

Calida accused the media corporation of “unlawfully exercising their legislative franchises under Republic Act No. 7966 and Republic Act No. 83322. He also clarified that “there is no politics” involved in the filing.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte accused the country’s leading broadcast network of refusing to air his political ads during the 2016 election and for bias reporting. He even told the executives of the tv network to just sell the company.

Several celebrities have appealed to the president to allow ABS-CBN to renew its franchise because lots of people will lose their jobs. Among them are Sharon Cuneta, Lea Salonga, and Robin Padilla.

On Wednesday, Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano joined his fellow artist in airing their support for the network amid its franchise renewal challenge. The petition has been pending in Congress for quite a while now.

The Puerto Rican singer penned a lengthy post on his Instagram account expressing what the tv network means for the Pinoy.

“Family is what matters most to the Filipino and this value lies at the heart of the service ABS-CBN renders Kapamilyas wherever they are, through good times and bad,” he wrote.

Gary Valenciano described the Kapamilya network as “a family that knows no borders.” The 55-year-old performer also recalled the moment he and his fellow ABS-CBN stars performed in Rome last year.

“The show didn’t end with the screaming fans, but with a heartwarming moment of families reminiscing, missing their family members back home,” Gary said.

In the latter part of his IG post, he expressed hope to be able to continue bringing entertainment to all the Filipinos.
