Sixteen police trainee’s dreams were dumped after they were fired and refused to graduate because they had been drinking liquor in their barracks – which is prohibited at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
In a report of GMA News, according to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Major General Debold Sinas, the sixteen trainees were no longer included in the graduation rates of graduates because of their misbehavior.
“While the investigation is on-going and pending for the convening of Academic Board and due process, these police trainees are temporarily held in abeyance and not included in the list of Graduates for February 10, 2020,” said Major General Sinas.
The trainees drank to celebrate their graduation at the National Capital Region Training Center inside Camp Bagong Diwa. Apparently not satisfied yet, the trainees even uploaded their pictures to social media.
They could not be sworn in as new cops for their misconduct. Major General Sinas said it would serve as a warning to those who wish to become law enforcers.
“The new breed
of Metro cops should not only be
physically fit, emotionally balanced, mentally sharp, morally upright but most
of all, perpetually disciplined,” he added.
In addition, Philippine National Police chief General Archie Gamboa ordered the removal of National Capital Region Training Center (NCRTC) Director Lieutenant Colonel Nelvin Ricohermoso for the incident. Apart from Ricohermoso, fourteen police officers handling the NCRTC’s training group were also fired.
