Answers To The Question: What Are Banderitas?
BANDERITAS – The word stems from the Spanish “banderita” which means small flag or pennant.
Typically, these are used as fiesta (festival) banners hung across the streets. Because of the Spanish occupation of the Philippines for 300 years, traditions such as the fiesta were adopted.
So, how do you make banderitas?
Creating your very own banderita is simple! All you need are a few crafting materials and you’re all set! Here are some items that you need to have:
- Colorful paper (old magazine pages, art paper, construction paper, etc.)
- String
- Glue
- Scissors
Usually, they are triangular in shape. So, what you want to do is just create a triangle and trace the cutout and glue it to your string. It’s that simple!
You could also just buy these at your local party shop for a fairly cheap price. But, if you’re on a tight budget, all you ever really need are a few cheap materials that you could probably see at home and your imagination!
