KOBE BRYANT – The 62nd annual Grammy Awards opened with a heartfelt tribute to NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

Basketball fans, athletes, and celebrities mourn the untimely death of the National Basketball Association (NBA) legend Kobe Bryant. The NBA icon and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant died in a helicopter crash on early Monday (Manila time).

They were reportedly on their way to Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, California. The helicopter crashed near Las Virgenes Road and Willow Glen Street in Calabasas, California.

Famous personalities like Michael Jordan, Michael Pacquiao, and Taylor Swift paid tribute to the late Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant. They expressed their shock and sadness at his sudden death.

During the opening ceremony of 2020 Grammy Awards, they start the show with a heartfelt tribute to the basketball superstar. Singer Alicia Keys, host of Grammys, took a moment to reflect on the death of the NBA legend and his daughter Gianna.

“Here we are together, on music’s biggest night, celebrating the artists that do it best, but to be honest with you, we’re all feeling crazy sadness right now,” she said.

Kobe Bryant played most of his NBA career at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Alecia Keys asked everyone “to take a moment and just hold them inside of you.”

“We never imagined in a million years we’d have to start the show like this… So we wanted to do something that could describe — a tiny bit — how we all feel right now,” she added.

The Grammy host was joined on stage by Boyz II Men for a performance of the group’s hit song “It’s Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday.”

Afterward, the singer said: “I love you, Kobe.”
