WUHAN CORONAVIRUS IN NEPAL – The coronavirus has been spreading worldwide with several confirmed cases outside of mainland China.

The devastating new coronavirus had already taken 41 lives and infected more than a thousand individuals worldwide.

The virus already had two confirmed cases in the United States and three were confirmed in France, the first incident of the virus in Europe.

Meanwhile, a student who came back from China had tested positive for the new coronavirus according to an official in Kathmandu. This was the first confirmed case in the Himalayan nation.

According to a report from Channel News Asia, the 32-year-old student landed in Nepal on January 9. He entered the Sukaraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Kathmandu for days later.

He reported a running fever and difficulty in breathing. Following his admittance, the institution sent a sample to Hong Kong and had returned positive.

He was discharged after recovery. We are monitoring the patient and he and his family members are healthy. So are all the health workers in the hospital

In lieu of the rampant outbreak in China, Nepal’s health ministry stated that it would tighten surveillance and screenings at the airport.

Meanwhile, health officials in China had been struggling to keep up with the virus outbreak. Several residents in Wuhan are left in outrage as hospitals fail to deliver adequate medical care.

Some even say that the Chinese government has been downplaying the exact number of cases. With this, lead virologist even stated that the Wuhan coronavirus could be deadlier than SARS.
