Oriental Mindoro Hit by Earthquake with 3.3Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 3.3 magnitude quake in Oriental Mindoro, January 21, 2020.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Phivolcs recorded a 5.6 magnitude quake in Makilala, North Cotabato at around 8 pm on July 9. It was followed by several aftershocks.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Oriental Mindoro. At 04:27 am today, January 21, 2020, Oriental Mindoro was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Oriental Mindoro was located at 13.40°North, 121.44°East – 016 km North 61° East of Naujan. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 017 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in a bulletin that there are no expected damages caused by the quake. There are no aftershocks as well.
