DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte warned Manila Water and Maynilad owners anew.

The issue regarding the deal between the government and the water concessionaires, the Maynilad and the Manila Water, has yet to come to an end. It is although the issue is quite less intense now.

Previously, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has warned the water distribution companies to file cases against the people who are linked to the making of the contract between the government and the companies.

According to the President, the deal is not fair on the part of the government. The state has to pay for the losses of the water distribution companies.

Under the said agreement, the Philippine government is ordered to pay Php 7.39 billion to Manila Water. The state is also mandated to pay Maynilad Php 3.4-billion under a foreign arbitral award.

Amid the warnings of the President, Maynilad and Manila Water have warned the public of higher rates. Many are curious as to whether the government will still renew the contract or not.

Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte released a new warning to the owners of Maynilad and Manila Water. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he would make a “Marcos” and arrest the owners of the water companies if they will intervene in case he will find new concession deals.

The President said he would put them to jail in case that happens. Amid the warning of the Chief Executive, the Malacañang Palace assured that a due process would be implemented if any officer of the water distribution companies would be nabbed.
