Black Nazarene Devotees Leave Lots Of Trash

BLACK NAZARENE – The devotees of the Black Nazarene left 70 tons of trash after the Traslacion 2020.

On Thursday, January 9, millions of people gather to attend the procession from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church for the feast of the Black Nazarene or popularly known as “Traslacion.” Roman Catholic devotees from different parts of the country attend the event.

Some of the known devotees from the showbiz world are Kris Aquino, Angeline Quinto, Noli De Castro, and Coco Martin. The ‘Ang Probinsyano’ actor took to social media to express his endless gratitude to the Black Nazarene.

Devotees usually kiss and wipe their handkerchiefs to the miraculous statue. In a previous article, the cross of the ‘Poong Nazareno’ broke yesterday as devotees rushed to reach it.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN, pieces of trash were left scattered on the roads by its devotees. On Thursday, around 70 tons of trash were collected by volunteers and cleaners from Quirino Grandstand to Ayala Bridge. The location was part of the route for the annual procession.

The chief of Manila Department of Public Services, Kenneth Amurao said the collected garbage could fill at least 14 dump trucks.

According to the report, Manila Mayor Francisco Isko Moreno Domagoso said they were expecting 150 tons of waste at the end of the feat od the Black Nazarene. His office said 2.3 million people followed the procession yesterday. He called on the public to help with the cleanup.

“Yung panawagan ng pamahalaan pang lungsod na ang taong bayan ay makiisa sa paglilinis na ginagawa ng lungsod ng Maynila,” said Isko.
