Man Became Instant Celebrity for Looking Like Jesus Christ for Traslacion

A Catholic pilgrim man became an “instant celebrity” to devotees for looking like Jesus Christ for the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

Devotees couldn’t help but notice a foreigner who looked very much like Jesus Christ roaming around Quiapo for the annual “Traslacion.” Wearing a loose white shirt and sporting a beard, many flocked to take a look at him. Some even had to ask pictures and pose next to the Jesus-look-alike.

The man who caught everyone’s attention is named Sergio Pereira. He came to the Philippines from Portugal to participate in the annual “Traslacion”, The Feast of the Black Nazarene.

The annual procession for the Feast of the Black Nazarene will be on January 9 and is expected to be attended by devotees all over the world. Last year, over a million Catholic devotees, joined the Traslacion which ended after a total of 21 hours.

According to him, he doesn’t mind the attention and feels “happy” when people tell him looks like Jesus Christ. He gladly allows people to take some photos of him or with him, as seen in the photos.

When Cedric Castillo, reporter of GMA News, asked what made him look like Jesus Christ, Sergio said, “It’s the beard.”

The Catholic pilgrim from Portugal became an instant celebrity not just on devotees but netizens also on social media. His photos went viral and caught a lot of attention from the netizens.
