Barbie Forteza had her fangirling moments working with Sharon Cuneta
Kapuso Primetime Drama Princess Barbie Forteza shared that working with Megastar Sharon Cuneta was like attending a “meet and greet” with her idol.
Barbie was absolutely starstruck upon meeting the Megastar. For the Kapuso actress, sharing the screen with her idol in a challenging and exceptional acting project is a “fangirl dream come true.”
For the very first time, Barbie and Sharon will be seen together in the family drama “Honor Thy Mother,” where they are expected to engage in intense confrontations as mother and daughter, based on the article in Bandera.
During the media conference for “Honor Thy Mother”, a collaboration project between ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment, GMA Network, and Prime Video, Barbie Forteza revealed that she couldn’t help but fangirl over Sharon.
“Ang hirap mag-prepare kapag nai-starstruck ka! Parang everyday, meron kang meet and greet with your idol kasi kailangan n’yong mag-work. So parang, ano ba ‘yung uunahin mo? ‘Yung work mo or ‘yung pagiging fangirl? Ang hirap po talaga!” Barbie admitted.
The younger actress is now calling the veteran star “Mama.” “Mama, up to this day, I swear, kapag meron tayong eksena together, as in inaaral ko siya sa standby area para pagdating ko sa set, pwede na akong mag-fangirl,” Barbie shared.
However, the Kapuso actress said she never felt intense fear or intimidation while working with Sharon.
She wasn’t scared at all, right from their very first meeting at the Prime Video event for this year’s local titles. Barbie said that the Megastar gave her such a warm welcome.
Sharon excitedly expressed that they finally got to work together, and during their first meeting, the veteran star already called the younger actress “anak.”
“As in sobrang winelcome po ako ni Ms. Sharon kaya wala po akong naramdamang takot. Mas fangirling talaga. Na-fulfill po talaga ang pagiging fangirl namin ng nanay ko. Mama Sharon na po ang tawag ko sa kanya,” Barbie shared.
Sharon Cuneta praised her co-star, saying that Barbie Forteza is like their walking script database. Whenever they forget something, they would just ask Barbie, and she would always be prepared. That preparation has also helped the two actresses work together smoothly.
When asked if they ever have disagreements on the set of Honor Thy Mother, especially during intense scenes, Barbie said that there was no instance of disagreement between them.
The younger actress also said that she was always in awe of Sharon because she is so diligent with their directors.
This made things easy for everyone because they were all on the same page. If they had any input, they made sure it aligned with everyone else’s ideas or their interpretation of the scene.
Barbie Forteza also shared that she would always learn from her Mama Sharon Cuneta. For her, working with the Megastar, it was like taking a masterclass every day.
