Elderly Man In Davao City Drowned At Sea On New Year
DAVAO CITY – An elderly man recently drowned while bathing at sea in Davao City, Davao Del Sur on New Year morning (January 1, 2020).
According to ABS-CBN News, the elder was identified as George Pandili, 60 years of age.
Alejandrina, Pandili’s wife, said that the victim informed her that he and his nephew will head out to wash in the sea. Pandili was reportedly drowned after encountering big waves.
His corpse was found at Purok 6, Barangay Ilang after 2 hours. The police reported that there was no foul play involved in the incident.
Based on the report, Police Major Noel Villahermosa stated that the victim drank an alcoholic beverage before he went to the sea. Villahermosa added that he drank to enjoy since it was New Year.
“Uminom siya para mag-enjoy dahil New Year kasi,”
In another incident related to the city, an auxiliary officer of the DCPO (Davao City Police Office) was suspended due to a photo showing the officer riding a motorcycle without a helmet.
The officer, in defense, said that she forgot to bring her helmet. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) issued a temporary operator’s permit to Daven for violating Section 7 of RA 10054 for riding a motorcycle without a helmet, with the fine of ₱1,500.
