Filipino athletes dominate the 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games. The host county surpassed the 112 gold medals they won in 2005 – the last time they hosted the biennial meet.
Surely, the Filipino crowd helped the Pinoy teams to clinch the awards in the regional competition. Millions of people including the foreign athletes wowed the opening ceremony at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on November 30.
SEA Games 2019 will come to an end on Wednesday after almost 2 weeks of competition. The Philippine team regained the overall champion.
Based on a report from CNN News, the closing ceremony of the regional meet will be held at Athletics Stadium in New Clark City on December 11. The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) said famous artists will perform in the closing rites.
American hip hop group Black Eyed Peas came back to the Philippines to perform on the SEA Games 2019 closing ceremonies. The Filipino rapper Apl.de.ap said it took about a month to get a ‘yes’ from Will.i.Am and Taboo.
According to the report, the national anthem will be sung by the frontman of the American rock band ‘Journey,’ Arnel Pineda. The Pinoy rocker’s band and classic rock band ‘KO Jones’ will entertain the crowd with 20 minutes set each.
One of the highlights of the closing ceremony is the 45-minute drone show followed by the parade of athletes. Based on the report, the volunteers of the SEA Games will also be acknowledged in the program.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea will be extinguishing the cauldron’s fire and turn over the hosting responsibilities to the officials of Vietnam. The fireworks display will cap the event.
