Bono is one of the world’s biggest rock stars. With his popularity, he engaged in various advocacies like human rights, gender equality, and health care.

In an interview, Paul Hewson, or better known as Bono, was asked whether he plans to meet up with the President. However, the rock star answered that he didn’t have any plans to do so.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, back in 1966 when the British band, the Beatles came to Manila, Imelda Marcos wanted to meet them. However, the band snubbed her request.

As per the article, Bono’s answer made the entire room full of journalists laugh. They were at the headquarters of the Philippine Red Cross where they were collaborating with the logistics company, Zipline.

Bono, being active in such advocacies, is one of the board members of Zipline. The company is pairing up with Red Cross to deliver blood via drones in isolated places.

The rockstar said that he wanted to focus on the positives brought by the Zipline-Redcross initiative. Afterward, he added that Duterte was already popular and that “he doesn’t need him on his side”.

My impression of the Philippines is very caring, very sophisticated people and I understand that when progress is made, some people make what they think are compromises for that progress.

And I would just say you can’t compromise on human rights. And that’s my soft message
