Free Tickets For Some Sporting Events, Closing Rites of SEA Games 2019
SEA GAMES 2019 – At least 10K admission tickets for some sporting events and closing rites of SEA Games 2019 will be given away for free.
The opening of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games will be on November 30 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. There have been several glitches days before the start of the biennial competition.
The chair of the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC), House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, is making a move after the series of unfortunate incidents. In a previous article, he announced where the public can ask for free tickets for the regional meet.
Based on a report from Inquirer, SEA Games 2019 organizers said 10,000 admission tickets for some events and the closing ceremony of the meet will be distributed for free.
“We will release 10,000 tickets to the public. Aside from the 10,000 a few thousands of tickets [more] to the LGU (Local Government Units) hosting the SEA Games,” said Cayetano.
According to the report, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered to make all SEA Games events free to the public but he understood that some sports will be held in private venues so the organizers should charge for admission. Alan Peter Cayetano announced the free tickets after the chief executive deferred the selling of the tickets.
PHISGOC chair stated that the tickets for some events that have yet to be sold out will be given away for free. He said the tickets for the volleyball and basketball were sold out or almost sold out.
Based on the report, Cayetano said the LGUs will also give away free tickets to the public for some events. The designated ticket outlets for the closing ceremony will be announced later by PHISGOC.
The chief operating officer of PHISGOC, Ramon Suzara, said the purchased tickets have no refunds but they would give them premiums to those who purchase early. He said they’ll probably give them free donuts or free ice cream.
“There’s no refund. We’ll put them in the best location because they bought the tickets already. I cannot blame them because they bought the tickets earlier online…”
“Maybe we’ll give them free ice cream or free donuts as a premium, but no smoking,” he added.
