Suspects Responsible for Deadly Fire in Bacolod Pension House Arrested
BACOLOD CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – Two alleged suspects responsible for the fire in Bacolod Pension House that killed six persons.
Earlier this week, the Java Pension House at the corner of Gonzaga and Locsin Streets in Bacolod City was caught by fire. Numerous people were trapped inside the establishment during the establishment.
The rescuers have also arrived at the fire scene to rescue the people trapped inside the building. Unfortunately, the pension house owner and its family, as well as some of the crew, died due to the deadly fire.
The victims were identified as 33-year-old Christopher Java, pension house owner mother Magdalena, 73, Christian Miguel, 12, the boy’s nanny, Ronalyn Dacalio, 43; Arnold Felomino, 58, front desk personnel, and Arnel Bajenting, 42, a guest from Cebu.
On Friday (November 30, 2019), the police authorities finally arrested the suspects who triggered the deadly fire. The two suspects were identified as Venancio Valeriano, 27 and Rodolfo Inson Jr., 23.
The alleged thieves attempted to steal a helmet by using a lighter to lit and cut the strap of the helmet, which was attached to a motorcycle. The fire ignited the motorcycle parked on the ground and triggered the deadly blaze in the pension house.
The suspects heard the explosion while they were eating near the pension house. The culprits even returned to the establishment to see the fire. The alleged thieves escaped and sold the helmet for P150.
Police station 1 chief Police Maj. Jovil Sedel said that the suspects had a third companion who is still at large.
Valeriano and Inson who have previous cases of theft will face charges of arson with multiple homicide and physical injuries due to the incident.
