Philippine Flag Used As Table Skirt Is Fake News Says Official
PHILIPPINE FLAG – Recently a photo of the Philippine Flag used as a table skirt went viral on social media and getting negative responses.
Netizens and some famous celebrities react to embarrassing SEA Games fails. But, there are some netizens who still showing their support to the Philippines despite mishaps.
However, a Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) official said that the photo was from a different event. He added that the PSC checked different SEA Games venues and discovered it was not from this year’s competition.
PSC executive-director Guillermo Iroy also said that they appreciate the constructive criticism. Although, he emphasized that they deplore the fake news that was made just to elicit public outrage.
According to a report from ABS-CBN, Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino said that small glitches can’t be avoided. But, he added that those have already been resolved.

Along with this, Tolentino said that he hoped the public would understand that their preparation lacked a year. He then highlighted that the SEA Games was supposed to be at Brunie.
Recently, Alan Peter Cayetano reacted to the statement of Deputy Speaker Michael Romero, who blamed Senator Franklin Drilon for the delayed budget approval.
He pointed out that Drilon cut the budget for the games and transferred it to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). “It was Senator Drilon who moved the budget of the SEA Games to the PSC and it was Senator Drilon who proposed cutting it by 33%,” he said.
