Masbate Hit by Earthquake with 4.4 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.4 magnitude quake in Masbate, November 23, 2019.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Masbate. At 11:04 am on November 23, 2019, Limbuhan was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4. An instrumental intensity was recorded of the said quake.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Masbate was located at 11.94°North, 124.05°East – 005 km North 25° East of Pio V. Corpuz. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 012 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated that there are no damages and aftershocks expected from the quake. Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Legazpi and Masbate.
