PAGASA – Sarah Intensified, Signal No. 1 Lifted On Babuyan Islands

PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA recently said that severe tropical storm Sarah slightly intensified while TCWS No.1 is lifted over Babuyan.

The bureau added in their 11 AM advisory that the severe tropical storm was last seen at about 275 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

Sarah, internationally called Fung-Wong, is currently packed with maximum sustained winds of about 100 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 125 kilometers per hour.

The severe tropical storm is currently moving west northwest at about 10 kilometers per hour.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) number 1 was lifted over the Babuyan Group of Islands but it will still face gusty conditions. The signal was still raised over Batanes.

Sarah is expected to weaken on Friday (November 22) or Saturday (November 23), the day where it is also expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Based on the advisory, The low pressure area (LPA), which is what’s left of Tropical Depression “Ramon” was found at about 225 kilometers west southwest of the town of Subic, Zambales.

Isabela, Cagayan, including the eastern section, Aurora, and north Quezon. will face light to moderate rains with isolated heavy rains brought by Sarah. Residents in the said areas are urged to stay vigilant for updates.

Sea travel is also risky over the seaboards of areas under TCWS, seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, and the western seaboard of Southern Luzon due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions due to Sarah.
