Work & Class Suspension Declared In These Areas on Friday (November 8)

WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class suspension in different areas in observance of Yolanda anniversary.

Super Typhoon Haiyan or known as ‘Yolanda’ is one of the strongest and deadliest typhoons that struck the Philippines resulting in the devastation of numerous houses, buildings, properties, casualties, and even killed thousands of Filipino people.

The disastrous typhoon struck Tacloban City and other parts of the country last November 8, 2013. Yolanda affects 14.1 million Filipinos, displaced over 4 million individuals, and took the lives of around 7,360 Filipinos.

Class Suspension

On Friday (November 8, 2019), several local government units in Eastern Visayas declared the suspension of government work and classes in all levels in commemoration of the 6th anniversary of Super Typhoon Yolanda.

Class Suspension

Different groups will hold several activities to mark the ‘Yolanda’ anniversary. Tanauan, Leyte Municipal Mayor Pelagio Tecson Jr. also explained that the class cancellation has been made to foster the lesson learned from the devastating calamity.

Here is the list of areas covered by the cancellation of classes in all levels and government work:

  • Tacloban City
  • Tanauan, Leyte
  • Palo, Leyte
  • Maasin, Southern Leyte
