Class Suspension Declared In These Areas on Thursday (Nov 7)

WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class suspension in different areas due to inclement weather conditions.

Over the past few days, Tropical Storm Quiel and the Tail – end of a Cold Front continue to bring an inclement weather condition in the country. Tropical Storm Quiel has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up 105 kph.

The two weather systems bring widespread rainshowers and thunderstorms in different parts of the country that might cause flash floods and landslides. The bad weather condition prompted several LGUs and schools to declare class suspensions.

Class Suspension

On Thursday (November 7, 2019), Iloilo City declared the suspension of class from preschool to senior high school for both private and public schools due to the inclement weather condition brought by the tropical storm.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas made the announcement after the local disaster office suggested the cancellation of classes.

The classes on three campuses of Cagayan State University in the towns of Piat, Lasam, and Mira have been also suspended.

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Quiel may develop into a severe tropical storm within the next 24 hours.
