Remains of Former Senator Nene Pimentel Flown to Cagayan de Oro

FORMER SENATOR NENE PIMENTEL – The remains of former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr. are now in Cagayan de Oro.

Countless hearts are currently grieving over the loss of someone who has offered most of his years to public service. Last Sunday, former Senate President Nene Pimentel passed away.

It was on October 15 when the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the party founded by Pimentel, asked for prayers for him. He was admitted at the hospital and was at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He was suffering from pneumonia.

Prayers showered for the former Senator. One of those who were quick to expressed her hope for his recovery is detained Senator Leila de Lima.

However, on Sunday, the former Senator’s son, Sen. Koko Pimentel, announced a sad news. His father died. Both of them had their time to lead the Senate as the Senate President.

Currently, the wake of former Senator. Nene Pimentel is being held. One of those who have paid their respect to the former Senator is President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Straight from Japan, he visited his wake.

Yesterday, the Senate organized a necrological service for the late former Senator. At the service, his son Sen. Koko Pimentel was in tears as he spoke about his late father. He tagged him as his teacher.

Currently, the remains of former Senator Nene Pimentel are in Cagayan de Oro based on a report on ABS-CBN News. He has served as the city mayor from 1980 to 1984. His wake is held the Tourism Hall and a public viewing was set.

The public viewing will be until Thursday. His remains will be brought to St. Augustine Cathedral on early hours of Friday before it will be flown back to Manila.
