Malaysia is a Southeast Asian country known for its iconic 451m-tall Petronas Twin Towers. However, aside from the scenic spots, colonial buildings, and skyscrapers, this country is also the best when you want a street food getaway.
Here are these Malaysian street foods bursting with foreign flavors but your sense of taste will surely love:
- Penang Assam Laksa (Rice Noodles In Fishy Soup) – This dish in Penang is added by Assam (tamarind) and many more flavourful herbs with flat thick rice noodles and mackerel shavings. It also has a flavor of lemongrass, ginger flower, Vietnamese mint leaves, and a scoop of shrimp paste.
- Lok Lok/Satay Celup – This food is dipped in a steaming hot delicious broth. This includes meatballs, prawn, cockles, and among others with a dip of hot peanut sauce or boiling soup stock.
- Nasi Lemak – This loaded dish is in fresh banana leaf with boiled egg, cucumbers and fried anchovies in shrimp paste and chili sauce. This is even considered as a national dish of Malaysia.
- Chee Cheong Fun – This originally a Cantonese dish. This is made of thick rice noodles in a dark sweet shrimp sauce with some chilli sauce.
- Char Kuey Teow – This comes in flat rice noodles with soy sauce, prawns, bean sprouts, spring onions, and sausages.
- Apom Balik – This is not your usual pancake. It is made of sticky rice with a creamy corn side that is sweet, eggy, and fluffy with a peanut filling inside.
- Ipoh Hor Fun – This is prepared with unique flat rice noodles, rich chicken and prawns broth with shredded chicken, prawns, mushrooms, spring onions, fish balls, and among others and can be served with hot chillies in soy sauce.
