Isko Moreno Receives P20M From Chinese Businessmen, Netizens React
ISKO MORENO – Netizens reacted after Isko Moreno received P20 million from Chinese businessmen for the rehabilitation of a bridge in Manila.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is considered one of the most well-known politicians today. Most Filipinos are updated on his projects and achievement via social media.
Recently, the actor-turned-politician was complimented by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for his excellent leadership. The chief executive admitted that the younger politician is better than him.
In a previous article, Isko Moreno responded to the president’s statement saying he’s the one who inspired him to become a good politician. He revealed that he got that idea when he visited Davao City.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, the 44-year-old politician asked for funding from the private sector in Manila. A day after, the charity arm of the Philippine Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Public Welfare Charity Foundation, gave P20 million to Moreno for the rehabilitation of the bridge near Pasig River.
Isko Moreno did not reveal the exact location of the project but he trusts that it will be finished this December. The rehabilitation of the bridge was part of their project to preserve the heritage of Manila. It also aims to become one of the city’s tourist destination.
“Protecting heritage builds tourism, tourism builds jobs and businesses,” said Moreno.
Isko Moreno said he will not give special treatment to the Chinese in exchange for their donations. He said he will not let foreigners abuse them and they will treat and protect them the same way as other businesses.
“I will not allow foreign investors to be abused and at the same time, I will not allow foreign investors to abuse us… If they do business in Manila, they should be protected the same way other businesses are protected,” said Moreno.

Ipinapakita ni Mayor Isko na transparent siya kaya dapat natin siyang pagtiwalaan. Huwag bahiran ng anumang pagkkalinlangan ang kanyang layuning iangat ang moralidad ng Manilanians. Hindi siya papayag na maabuso o abusuhin nya ang sinuman. Posibli na ang di nya agad pagbanggit ng project ay nagbibigay puwang na kung sakaling maghahanap ng kapalit ang mga nagbigay, ay agad niya iting maibabalik ng buongbuo.
