Tito Sotto Says Trans Women Will Never Be Treated Like Women

TITO SOTTO – On Wednesday, Senate President Tito Sotto explained why trans women will never be treated like women.

After the bathroom incident of the transgender woman named Gretchen Diez, lots of people have spoken up if they are in favor of passing Sen. Risa Hontiveros’ Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or Expression (SOGIE) bill or ‘Anti-discrimination’.

Among the senators who are in favor of passing the bill are senators Imee Marcos and Christopher “Bong” Go. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said he will be supporting the bill and want separate restroom for the LGBTQ+ community.

Meanwhile, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said Honteveros’ bill has “no chance” of passing the senate. He believed that it could lead to the end of religion and academic freedom.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, Sotto once again expressed his opinion about the SOGIE bill. The bill only aims to safeguard a certain sector of the society said Sotto.

Tito Sotto also dismissed the statement of Risa Hontiveros saying the ‘Anti-discrimination’ bill can be linked to the women’s human rights law or Magna Carta for Women. The 71-year-old politician explained why transgender women will never be treated like women.

“Women cannot be compared to a group like that because, I hate to say this but I have to, If you are a man, you will never be a woman, no matter what you do, because you cannot reproduce. You cannot give birth, you do not have ovaries.”

“You will never be a woman. So this, to me, the SOGIE bill is a bill against women’s rights,” he added.

According to the report, Tito Sotto doubted that the SOGIE bill will pass in the Senate considering lots of people are against it. He also said that he’s open to Sen. Sonny Angara’s bill, the Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Bill.
