Over the past few weeks, the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression Equality Bill or known as the SOGIE Bill has been one of the most controversial topics not only on social media but also throughout the entire country.
The Anti-Discrimination Bill (ADB) has been filed by Kaka Bag-ao, Geraldine Roman, Tom Villarin, and Risa Hontiveros with the aim to prevent discrimination against people based on their gender expression.
The SOGIE Bill goes viral after a transwoman identified as Gretchen Diez filed a complaint against a janitress who prevented her from using a female toilet in a Cubao mall in Quezon City.
Recently, a Facebook user named Macky Padilla Onrubia has shared the video footage of a transgender woman together with her colleagues insulting the security guard of Mercury Drug Store after apprehending her to use the ladies’ restroom.
In the video, it can be seen that the guard and the transwoman were having an exchange of heated arguments with the security guard until it leads into a physical altercation.
