Lito Atienza Offers to Help Janitress Involved In Diez Restroom Fiasco
LITO ATIENZA – Filipino politician Lito Atienza Jr. said he wants to help the janitress involved in transwoman’s restroom issue in Quezon City.
The issue of the transgender woman Gretchen Diez who was discriminated by a janitress in a restroom in Quezon City was brought in the Senate. It energized the bill passed by Sen. Risa Hontiveros, the SOGIE (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression) Bill or ‘Anti-Discrimination’ bill.
Recently, an interview of the former mayor of Manila City Lito Atienza Jr. about the restroom issue surface on the social media. The video was uploaded on the Facebook Page of Lito Atienza – Buhay Partylist.
The politician commented over the urge of some people to pass the ‘Anti-Discrimination’ Bill. “I will defend the rights of anyone who belong to the LGBT+ community, but do not impose on the other party, do not impose on the household even, do not impose on your community,” he said.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, Lito Atienza said he’s willing to help the janitress who lost her job following the confrontation with Diez. He also urged his fellow politician to reject the bill that “protects” the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
“I’d like to offer you a job. Tutulungan kita makahanap ng bagong trabaho. Gumamit ka ng common sense…”
“Ginigiit ng isang grupo na bagamat may bilang sila yung pinaglalaban nila para bagang baguhin natin ang pag-uugali, ang takbo ng buhay sa Pilipinas, na tanggapin natin at i-adjust natin ang lahat doon sa kanilang mungkahi at personal na kagustuhan. I’m talking about the LGBT community,” he added.
