Next Target of Pres. Duterte in Anti-Corruption Campaign Exposed
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed his next target in the anti-corruption campaign of his administration.
The current administration is firm on its pursuit to clean the Philippines from corruption. It is another campaign promise of the President aside from eradicating the presence of drugs in the country.
Recently, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) has visibly became the target of the cleaning. Several Customs officials are facing charges and there were already employees that were removed from their posts.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the President is not satisfied with six(6) or seven(7) Customs employees being dismissed. According to him, he wanted the 64 Customs officials facing charges removed from their posts.
Speaking at the inauguration of the solar-power project in Romblon, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte also revealed his next target in his administration’s anti-corruption campaign. It is the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
According to the President, the upper level got corruption and he is watching over it. He stressed that the corruption happening in the lower level is affecting a lot of Filipinos.
“Ang corruption is taas. Kaya dito ko binabantayan. Pero ‘yang masabi mo mga corrupt diyan sa baba, well of course, it affects a lot of Filipinos. Checkpoint, Customs, BIR. Kaya ang sunod BIR,” he said.
Based on the report, the President claimed that examiners in the tax agency in the country would allegedly grab a big portion of the tax paid by the people. He cited an example, allegedly, in a Php 5 million tax, Php 2-million goes to the examiner.
“Ang nabubusog diyan ang examiners,” he said.
As of this writing, there are still no further details about this matter. We’ll keep you posted for updates on the anti-corruption campaign of the current administration.
