Naval, Biliran Hit by Earthquake with 4.1 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.1 magnitude quake in Naval, Biliran, August 5, 2019.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Biliran. At 05:21 am on August 5, 2019, Naval, Biliran was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Batanes was located at 11.52°North, 124.42°East – 006 km South 32° East of Naval. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 006 kilometers.
Based on the bulletin released by Phivolcs, Intensity I was felt in Bogo City, Cebu and Ormoc City. Naval, Kawayan, Biliran and Almeria, Biliran felt Intensity III. There are no expected damages caused by the quake and as well as aftershocks.
