Residents in Zamboanga City Rescue an Injured Crested Serpent Eagle
ZAMBOANGA – Residents in Zamboanga City rescued a crested serpent eagle that had an injured leg.
A crested serpent eagle is mostly seen in the forested habitats in tropical Asia. Snakes are their favorite meal.
These beautiful creatures have powerful feet, long feathers, and has a crested appearance.
They almost have the same features as the national bird of the Philippines, the Philippine Eagle.
In a report, late president Ferdinand Marcos is the one who proclaimed it as the country’s national bird.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN, residents in Zamboanga City rescued an injured eagle on Thursday, July 25. Fortunately lots of people were around the area and noticed the distressed bird.
A resident in Purok 8 Recodo named Muhaimin said the right leg of the crested serpent eagle was already injured when he retrieved it from a tree.
The information officer of the Community Environment and Natural Resources in Zamboanga City, Nympha Cunanan, said the eagle was more than 4-months-old.
According to the report, the crested serpent eagle was immediately brought to the veterinarian in the area for a check-up. After the treatment, it will be turned over to the City Aviary.
The beautiful eagle will be released very soon after the medication and treatment.
Hopefully, people will take care of these beautiful creatures soon so that the future generation could still see them.
