Dengue Outbreak Declared in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City is now under a dengue outbreak following the high records of the number of patients.

During the rainy season in the Philippines, one of the diseases that are rampant is dengue fever or dengue. It is a mosquito-borne disease that can cause recurring fever to patients.

Unfortunately, the effect of dengue may not stop on high fevers. It can even lead to death and a lot of individuals lost their lives due to it. That is why the public is really encouraged to take steps against it.

A clean surrounding is necessary to lower the risk of dengue. Mosquito-breeding areas should really be destroyed.

Iloilo City

Currently, there are already several areas that have declared a dengue outbreak. One of them is Iloilo City.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the officials confirmed the declaration following the high record of the health department in the city.

According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, the City Health has jot down a 416.7% increase on last year’s record. The declaration allows the city to take steps in preparation for the matter.

Reportedly, before the declaration, a massive clean-up campaign was launched in the city to encourage the citizens to clean their surroundings.

Aside from the city, the provinces of Leyte, South Cotabato, and Zamboanga Sibugay are also at stake due to the rampant mosquito-borne disease.
