INSTANT NOODLES – Here are some of the important things you should know about instant noodles and its effects to the body.

One of the essential factors to survive is food. And in today’s world where technology has already dominated, innovation not only took place in gadgets but on food as well. In phones, we can now have instant communication and in terms of food, we also have an instant. And as such, among the most prominent instant food is the instant noodle.

Instant noodles are produced to stand and bear a longer shelf life, thus, they are technically and surely highly processed. These made them as foods with low nutritive content high on fat, calories and sodium and with artificial colours, preservatives, additives and flavourings.

And here are the dark sides of eating instant noodles that you probably do not know yet:

  1. Slow to digest – This kind of food is slow to digest and may even interfere with blood sugar levels and insulin release. If they are hard to be digested, its chemicals and preservatives are also kept in the body for a long time.
  2. Linked to cancer – If these toxic chemicals are held by the body, this often leads to over-exposure of Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and t-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) which are known carcinogenic that can cause cancer.
  3. Risk of heart disease – Accordingly, women who eat instant noodles twice a week have greater risk of metabolic syndrome (group of symptoms such as central obesity, elevated blood pressure, low levels of HDL cholesterol). Metabolic syndrome can cause increase chances of heart disease, diabetes or having a stroke.
  4. High in salt – Instant noodles are high in sodium that may lead to high blood pressure and heart disease.
  5. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) – This is also called as obesity drug and should be slash off from your list if you want to lose weight.
