New LPA Within PAR Turns Into Tropical Depression Goring, PAGASA Says
The state weather bureau PAGASA announced that the new low-pressure area within the Philippine Area of Responsibility turned into Tropical Depression Goring.
On Friday (July 19, 2019), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported the latest updates about the recent tropical depression.
PAGASA said that the LPA they are monitoring re-entered PAR around 7:00 am and intensified into a tropical depression after an hour.
PAGASA named the tropical depression as “Goring”, the seventh tropical cyclone to hit the Philippines this year.
At 10:00 am, Goring was spotted at 190 km North Northwest of Basco, Batanes (22.1 °N, 121.5 °E ).
Goring has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 60 kph moving 30 kph at a northeast direction.
Moderate to heavy rains are expected over Batanes, Ilocos Region and Babuyan Group of Islands.
The weather agency also warned the residents of the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flashfloods and landslides.
The weather disturbance may leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday evening or Saturday morning (July 20, 2019).
