Excessive sweating in the underarms is also called hyperhidrosis which can really cause embarrassment and making one feel uncomfortable. It is important to note though, that sweating is an important process in the body to regulate temperature.

There are millions of glands throughout the human body and the apocrine glands is located in the armpits which is particularly producing the sweat that contains protein and fatty acids, thus, causing stains.

Now, here are some ways to stop excessive underarm sweating:

  1. Antiperspirants – Apply this on dry skin surface and you can get the most out of it if you apply it after a night’s bath for one is less active during the night. Also, its effect is not seen instantly. You have to give your antiperspirant an ample time to have its full effect.
  2. Waiting – Allow your body to cool down before dressing up after shower especially if you did a hot one to prevent sweating.
  3. Shaving – Accordingly, hair holds moisture thus, shaving it will help and will also eliminate body odor. However, after shaving, do not put antiperspirant immediately. Give at least 24 hours after for application.
  4. Foods – Watch out over the foods you eat for there are some that makes your body produce sweat such as processed foods, liquor, beer, garlic, onions, with high-fat content, hot, spicy, and ice cream. Meanwhile, there are also foods that reduces the sweat and as such are almonds, bananas, whey, olive oil, oats, green tea, and sweet potatoes.
  5. Keep hydrated – Drink plenty of water to help your body cool down.
  6. Clothing – Choose clothes that loosely fits your body and will allow your armpits to breathe and also to avoid stains from sweating.
  7. Smoking – The heat raises your body temperature, thus, causing excess sweat.
