North Cotabato Hit by 5.6 Magnitude Earthquake
EARTHQUAKE – Two(2) 4.8 magnitude quakes followed the 5.6 magnitude quake that hit North Cotabato on the eve of July 9.
The extent of the effects of quakes may reach damages and even loss of lives. That is why the public is encouraged to know more about the earthquake safety tips.
With enough knowledge on what to do, the risk would be lowered and the people can avoid panicking. Quakes are natural incidents that are hard to predict that’s why a thorough preparation is really an edge.
Recently, North Cotabato was hit by several quakes based on the records of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Based on the bulletins posted by Phivolcs on its official website, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Makilala, North Cotabato at 8:36 pm on Tuesday, July 9.
The quake was located at 06.84°N, 125.03°E – 015 km S 27° W of Makilala. It had a depth of 010 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

According to Phivolcs, following the 5.6 magnitude earthquake, a series of quakes jolted North Cotabato including two(2) 4.8-magnitude quakes in Makilala still.
