Here’s What To Expect In President Duterte’s Fourth SONA
DUTERTE – Here’s what people should expect on the fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is the 16th president of the country. He’s considered as one of the most controversial chief executives for being so strict and outspoken.
The 74-year-old politician has gained a lot of critics because of his way of managing his country.
Despite the criticism from the Catholic Church, fellow politicians and opinionated Filipino masses, he still got lots of supporters. In short, half of his countrymen trusted his capabilities in running the country.
The president has done three State of the Nation Address (SONA) already, now he’s preparing for his 4th SONA on Monday, July 22.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles official said President Rodrigo Duterte’s fourth SONA may focus on strengthening the programs of the government.
Programs such as the alleviation of poverty, peace and order, and inclusive growth.
“I don’t want to preempt but the (SONA) theme is because we are on our midterm, then it is sustaining, sustaining the growth, patuloy na pagbabago, sustaining what we already accomplished, sustaining pagmamalasakit,” Nograles said.
According to the report, the Palace official said Duterte ordered his administration to make an action in these areas before his term ends.
“‘Yung peace and order program will still obviously be a focus but now we are moving toward malasakit so you will see more of our poverty reduction programs. ‘Yan ang magiging direction sa last three years,” said Nograles.
Karlo Nograles revealed that people should expect that Duterte may divert from his prepared speech and make an impromptu remark. He also said the president is known to speak from both his mind and heart.
“The most special thing is that the President usually diverts from the (prepared) speech and says his mind and says what is in his heart so I think that’s what people look forward to. The speech, yes, but more so ‘yung mga candid moments ni Pangulo,” he said.
Based on the report, the Cabinet clusters have already set the president for three pre-SONA. The first pre-SONA was done last Monday at the Philippine International Convention Center.
Second pre-SONA will be in Cebu City this coming July 10 and the third will pre-SONA will be conducted in Davao City on July 17.
“We are already communicating to them kung ano yung hina-highlight sa pre-SONA para hindi na kailangan ulitin sa SONA kasi nasabi na sa pre-SONA. That’s basically how we are working on it,” Nograles said.
