Maternity Benefits Could Reach Up To P70k in January 2020, SSS Says

The Social Security System (SSS) announced that the maternity benefits could reach up to P70,000 starting in January 2020.

On Thursday (June 27, 2019), SSS President and CEO Aurora Ignacio said that they could give a maximum maternity financial assistance of up to P70,000 starting next year.

Ignacio made the announcement following the implementation of the Republic Act No. 11210 or Expanded Maternity Leave Act as well as SSS Act of 2018.

Maternity Benefits

The bill states that the beneficiaries could expect an increasing SSS benefits due to the implementation of the minimum and maximum monthly salary credit.

Mothers and pregnant women who were receiving P32,000 maternity benefit before could enjoy up to P70,000 financial aid at the start of 2020.

The SSS executive revealed that around 122,000 moms have already enjoyed the additional benefits due to the Expanded Maternity Leave Act.
