Leni Robredo Visits, Listens To Stories of 22 Filipino Fishermen
LENI ROBREDO – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo visited and listened to the stories of the 22 Filipino fishermen.
The captain of the fishing boat that was rammed by a Chinese ship, Junnel Insigne, backed out on his planned meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte on June 17.
Insigne canceled his meeting with the president on the last minute. He explained that his body hasn’t recovered very well after the incident.
Junnel Insigne said that if President Duterte wants to offer him and his fellow fishermen help, just deliver it to their town in Occidental Mindoro.
The Philippine government gave the 22 fishermen glass boats and the Filipino-Chinese businessmen also vowed to provide the needs of the fishermen and their family.
Meanwhile, Vice President Leni Robredo visited the 22 Pinoy fisherman in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro on Friday, June 21.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Robredo arrived in the house of the fishing boat owner, Arlene dela Torre before 10 a.m. in Barangay San Roque.
Dela Torre told the media that the vice president talked with the fishermen inside her house. The politician did not allow any reporters inside.
According to the report, Leni Robredo also visited the house of captain Junnel Insigne. Arlene dela Torre said the VP just listened to their stories.
“We were made to narrate our experiences. She didn’t say anything. We’re happy that she also came to our house,” she said.
Based on the report, Arlene Dela Torre also expressed that she admired Leni Robredo’s kindheratedness towards them.
“She’s kind and cheerful person. We felt comfortable with her,” she said.
After Leni Robredo’s visitation to the fishermen, she went to the municipal hall and meet Mayor Romulo Festin.
