Fiber Glass Boats Sent to 22 Fishermen of Boat Rammed By Chinese Fishing Vessel
The Philippine government gave 11 fiber glass boats to 22 Pinoy fishermen who got involved in the “hit-and-run” incident last week.
On Wednesday (June 19, 2019), the Department of Agriculture (DA) distribute 11 fiberglass fishing boats to 22 crew of the boat rammed by a Chinese ship in the West Philippine Sea.
The Filipino fishermen also received rice, fishing equipment, and groceries, aside from the fishing boats.
The gifts were sent two days after Captain Junel Insigne refused to meet President Rodrigo Duterte.
Insigne initially assumed that President Duterte already abandoned them but the gifts being presented to the public shows that the government did not abandon the fishermen.
The captain also refused to talk to the Chief Executive after being “traumatized” because of the incident.
The government also promised to provide more assistance for the 22 Filipino crew.
